When i first saw this photo, it caught my eye. Something about it (besides it being of one of the influential people i know of), drew me to it. An emotional connection. Maybe it’s the fact that he looks venerable, an emotion shown for a moment and captured on film. Maybe it’s that he’s holding himself, and for that moment in time, holding himself together. Maybe it’s that looking at him, reminds me of myself and how I’ve stood in that position without anyone seeing what was going on internally. Maybe it’s the fact his eyes are looking away, that he, for a moment is away from this world in his thoughts.
Probably, it’s a combination of all those things, all of those things which I can relate to. Once again, Gerard has reminded me I’m not alone, with one photo of a single moment in thought. And its this connection that nearly brings me to tears. I thank him for that.
